The National Institute of Aerospace (NIA) will host a Community Support Open House for People Impacted by the Government Shutdown from 1-3pm this Thursday, January 17 at the NIA, 100 Explorations Way in Hampton. We recognize the level of stress this brings to our employees as well as those in our community who are directly impacted by the government shutdown, This is a community, people-focused event for employees, contractors and their families in our Langley Community to provide resources and an opportunity to get questions answered.  We are bringing together a a diverse group of community organizations who are providing resources/ services and can help answer questions. We have invited representatives from local financial institutions, school boards, volunteer organizations, employee assistance programs, the Virginia Employment Commission, local businesses and general service organizations in the community.  In addition, volunteers from NASA will also be on hand to answer questions about government employee benefits, IT access, travel bank card impacts, outside employment rules and other official government resources.  NIA President and Executive Director, Doug Stanley and NASA Langley Center Director, Dave Bowles, will make a few opening remarks at 1 pm, but you can come by any time during the event hours.
