NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, has again been awarded the agency’s Small Business Administrator’s Cup, presented annually to the NASA center that operates the best overall small business program. NASA Administrator Charles Bolden came to Marshall for the ceremony — the fourth time Marshall has earned the cup in the award’s seven-year history.

“I am pleased — but not at all surprised — to again be presenting the Marshall team with this award,” said Glenn Delgado, associate administrator of NASA’s Office of Small Business Programs in Washington, during a ceremony at the center on April 7. “They know how important the role of small business is to our mission, and they continue building on their record of commitment to our business programs.”

Marshall was recognized for the work of its Small Business Program in fiscal year 2014 to promote the participation of small businesses in helping NASA achieve its goals. Marshall also won for work in fiscal years 2008, 2010 and 2012.

“It’s always an honor to receive an award, but to earn this one consistently says volumes about the quality of our team,” said Marshall Center Director Patrick Scheuermann.

“As we continue building the Space Launch System and supporting NASA’s missions to help life on Earth and reach ever deeper into space, the participation of small businesses and other partners will be vital.”

Marshall small business specialist David Brock said participation by senior management and the center’s acquisition, technical and contractor communities has been crucial to success.

“The entire Marshall team recognizes the value of a diverse and solid foundation of business partners as we build programs of exploration and discovery,” Brock said. “Mission success depends on their success. We couldn’t do it without them.”
