Description

Phase II – In-Space (Relevant Environment) Demonstration

As previously stated in Appendix B of solicitation NNL12A3001N, NASA anticipates a Phase II effort to demonstrate the most promising of the selected SEP solar array system concepts with an in-space flight demonstration. The solicitation also stated that requirements for this Phase II portion of the procurement would be provided within nine months after award of Phase I contracts. However, NASA is still in the process of determining space flight demonstration platform requirements and has decided to postpone the decision to proceed to Phase II by up to six months. This delay will provide time to ensure that the requirements match as closely as possible with a flight demonstration consistent with the FY14 budget. As stated in the solicitation, Phase II of the acquisition will be synopsized in accordance with FAR 5.201 and 5.203.
