Description

NASA Glenn Research Center is hereby soliciting information for potential sources from educational institutions and non-profit organizations to support the NASA Explorer Schools (NES) Project. NASA Glenn Research Center intends to release a Cooperative Agreement Notice (CAN) in the future for the NASA Explorer Schools (NES). The NASA Explorer Schools (NES) Vision is “Actively engaged schools and partners delivering unique and authentic NASA experiences that inspire middle and high school students’ interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines today, tomorrow, and beyond.” The NASA Explorer Schools (NES) Mission is “To be the Agency’s classroom-based gateway to middle and high school students inspiring them to participate in NASA missions and develop their aptitudes in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).”

Recipient’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, (1) NASA Explorer Schools Curriculum Support Materials; (2) Content Development for the NASA Explorer Schools Virtual Campus; (3) Project Awareness and Promotional Activities; (4) Participant Recognition; (5) Continuous Project Improvement; and (6) Support the role of External Partners in Project Operations. NASA Glenn Research Center’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, (1) Collaborate and plan with recipient on development of annual performance goals and metrics; (2) Collaborate and plan with recipient on all aspects of project implementation as necessary; (3) Analyze budget considerations on an annual basis and make appropriate alterations to the recipient’s responsibilities as may be necessary; (4) Facilitate the engagement of all NASA Centers and JPL in (NES) initiatives; (5) Pursue partnerships to support (NES) through talents and resources of government, industry and private foundations; (6) Provide NASA-unique strategies, tools, content, and resources that support K-12 education; (7) Facilitate cross coordination of Informal and Higher Education outcomes and objectives; (8) Provide access to NASA education infrastructures, personnel and subject matter experts; (9) Provide access to NASA Education Data Collection Infrastructure; (10) Collaborate on Project Evaluation Strategies and recommendations on changes to project direction based upon cycle of data collection and reporting.

No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. If a solicitation is released it will be synopsized in FedBizOpps and on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service. It is the potential offeror’s responsibility to monitor these sites for the release of any solicitation or synopsis.

Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m., local time on August 31, 2010.

This synopsis is for information and planning purposes and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government nor will the Government pay for information solicited. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation. Respondents deemed fully qualified will be considered in any resultant solicitation for the requirement.
