NASA/GSFC intends to purchase an Engineering Model and two (2) Flight Laser Retroflector Arrays from ITE, Inc pursuant to the requirements of FAR 13.106, for the acquisition of supplies or services determined to be reasonably available from only one source. ITE, Inc has developed laser retro-reflector arrays for many spacecraft and GSFC has supported the development of this capability over many years to enable the tracking of spacecraft by NASA’s laser ranging network GSFC intents to acquire a set of reflector arrays for the Phoenix Mars Scout mission due for launch in the summer of 2007. These arrays will enable the Phoenix lander to be located from Mars orbit. The arrays, along with the other lander instruments, are required to be delivered to JPL by Sept 2006.
