Note: From the article: “Utilizing signal-detection theory, psychometric curve fits are widely used to quantify an observer’s performance. Subject lapses caused by loss of attention can cause fit parameters to fall far from actual values. Accurate psychometric curve fits are critical to ensure accurate and appropriate experimental conclusions. We test a novel lapse-identification algorithm that simulations show reduces the impact of lapses across a wide range of underlying lapse rates. Further simulations show the algorithm to be effective across a broad range of experimental conditions.”
