In case you missed it: On May 5, 2017, The Washington Post published an article, ‘I wanted to serve’: These deaf men helped NASA understand motion sickness in space” about deaf students from Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. who participated in motion sickness and equilibrium studies for the Navy. Studies were conducted from 1958-1968 through a joint project between the U.S. Naval School of Aviation Medicine and NASA. The article highlights an exhibit at the Gallaudet University Museum entitled Deaf Difference + Space Survival. The display includes over 150 photographs, film footage, documents, scientific reports, personal letters, and filmed interviews. The exhibit runs through the Fall of 2018.
