Description

The California Institute of Technology’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (Caltech/JPL), operating under a prime contract with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), seek responses to a Draft Request for Proposal (RFP) for a Terminal Descent Sensor (TDS) in support of the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) Spacecraft. All organizations are invited to submit a proposal. BACKGROUND: JPL, located in Pasadena, California, will be selecting a source for design, fabrication, test, product assurance, performance, and environment of a Ku-band doppler velocimeter/altimeter for guiding the decent and landing of the rover on board the Mars Science Laboratory Spacecraft to be launched in 2009. WHO MAY PROPOSE? This opportunity is open to educational institutions; Nonprofit, nonacademic organizations (i.e., a private or government supported research lab, university consortium, museum, observatory, etc.); Industry; NASA Centers including JPL; Other government agencies (i.e., any non-NASA, U.S. federal executive agency, national laboratory or federally funded research and development center (FFRDC); and any Non-U.S. organizations (on a no-exchange-of-funds basis with capabilities and interest to conduct advanced technology development).
