Description

NASA/JSC is hereby soliciting information about potential sources for small business subcontracting opportunities for the NASA/Exploration Systems Mission Directorate (ESMD) for the design, development, and testing of a crew exploration vehicle (CEV). http://exploration.nasa.gov/

In simplest terms, this acquisition is for a CEV that will transport humans beyond the earth’s orbit and back again. Under this acquisition process, NASA has used a phased approach utilizing full and open competition to select two companies, Lockheed Martin Corporation and Northrop-Grumman/Boeing, for phase I contracts for concept development. Phase II will begin after a competitive down select of the phase I effort. Again the purpose of this sources sought is to identify potential sources for small business subcontracting opportunities during phase II performance.

No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. If a solicitation is released it will be synopsized in FedBizOpps and on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service. It is the potential offeror’s responsibility to monitor these sites for the release of any solicitation or synopsis.

Interested offerors/vendors having the required specialized capabilities to meet the above requirement should submit a capability statement of four pages or less indicating the ability to perform aspects of the effort described herein.

Please advise if the requirement is considered to be a commercial or commercial-type product. A commercial item is defined in FAR 2.101.

This synopsis is for information and planning purposes and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government nor will the Government pay for information solicited. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation.

All responses shall be submitted to Keith Hutto no later than August 3, 2005. Please reference 420011915 in any response. Any referenced notes may be viewed at the following URLs linked below.
