Description

NASA/GSFC/Wallops Flight Facility has a requirement for the Wallops STEP UP Intern Program. 1 Job.

NASA/GSFC/WFF intends to purchase the items from Worcester County Economic Development, in accordance with 6.302-1(a)(1) 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1)- Only One Responsible Source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.

NASA and Worcester County Economic Development will co-fund a student internship program that will provide internship opportunities for a minimum of 9 high school students, 2 WorWic Community College Students, 2 Salisbury University Students, and 7 University of Maryland Eastern Shore Students for at least 8 weeks during the summer of 2008 or a semester long part time internship in the fall of 08. The students will serve their internship at NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility, the Maryland Institute for Space Technology (MIST) or Maryland HAWK Corporation In Support Of NASA Projects.

In addition to the internship program, a seminar on space science for students with physical disabilities who reside on the Eastern Shore will be conducted.

The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.

Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on April 11, 2008. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.

All responsible sources may submit capability statements which shall be considered by the agency.
