Description

Recovery – This notice is being provided for information purposes only. The purpose of this notice is to provide the public the announcement that National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) has selected and intends to award to the University of Washington under a competitive NASA Research Announcement (NRA) entitled “Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) – 2009” for support in achieving the goals of Operation IceBridge. The goals of Operation IceBridge are to study and monitor the changing areas of the Cryosphere and areas of frozen water, including the Earth’s ice sheets and sea ice and glaciers.

The scope of this effort is limited to: 1) Provide leadership for Operation IceBridge ad hoc Science Team and 2) Transfer knowledge of Operation management to the new NASA GSFC personnel. These services will be contracted for seven (7) months under contract number NNG10HP04C using American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds. The contract type will be a Cost-No Fee with an estimated value of $265,000. This effort cannot be performed on a fixed price basis due to the nature and variability of the work to be performed; uncertainties involved in contract performance do not permit costs to be estimated with sufficient accuracy to use any type of fixed price contract. A cost type contract provides flexibility necessary to accommodate changes in requirements during contract performance, which may be significant.
