Description
NASA/KSC plans to issue a Request for Quote (RFQ) for (4 EA) Machine Guns adaptable for helicopter use; (1 EA) Machine Gun for ground operations; and (4 EA) Pintle Adapters. The minimum technical requirements for the Machine Guns are: 1) Have a spade grip and be pintle-mounted (for helicopter); 2) Fire a 7.62 NATO round or equivalent; 3) Be capable of firing at least 850 rounds per minute in the cyclic rate; 4) Have a steel receiver designed to last at least 90,000 rounds; 5) Be equipped with a spare barrel for each gun; 6) Be able to fire at least 20,000 rounds MRBF (Mean Rounds Between Failure); 7) Desired length of the guns are approximately 42” long for helicopter use and 49” long for ground operations; 9) Delivery is within 150 days ARO.
This procurement is being conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP).
The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See note 26.
This procurement is a total small business set-aside. See Note 1.
The NAICS Code and Size Standard are 332994 and 1,000 respectively.
The anticipated release date of the RFQ is on or about July 11, 2005 with an anticipated quote due date of on or about July 21, 2005.
All responsible sources may submit a quote which shall be considered by the agency.
An ombudsman has been appointed – See NASA Specific Note “B”.
The solicitation and any documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. These documents will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
