Description

The California Institute of Technology’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (Caltech/JPL), operating under a prime contract with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), is seeking potential educational institutions to provide a study to address a mission concept for a small CubeSat spacecraft up to 3U in size that would be carried aboard the potential Europa Clipper spacecraft, released in the Jovian system and would make measurements at Europa. You may find the full RFP at: https://acquisition.jpl.nasa.gov/bizops/ Based on the proposers’ response to the RFP and the needs of JPL, up to ten (10) proposals will be selected. Successfully selected proposals will be funded as a JPL-issued Fixed-Price Research Support Agreement (RSA). RSAs are not to exceed $25,000. The period of performance is approximately eight (8) months beginning around September 1, 2014. This effort may lead to additional tasks in the future; however, there is no commitment at this time to fly CubeSats on the potential Europa Clipper mission.

RESPONSE DEADLINE AND INQUIRES: Response to this RFP must be submitted no later than August 18, 2014. Submissions will be accepted as an E-Mail attachment only, and all responses should be sent to Universities Section, Group Supervisor, Patrick Thompson at Patrick.M.Thompson@jpl.nasa.gov with Europa CubeSat Concept Study RFP SS06-30-14 in the subject line. Any inquiries regarding this RFP should also be directed to Patrick Thompson.
