Description

NASA/JSC has a requirement for an inflatable habitat bladder.

NASA/JSC intends to purchase the items from ILC Dover, Inc.

This company has unique experience in the manufacturing of human rated habitable inflatable structures used in space and ground inflatables used for space habitat inflatable analog testing at high pressures. This hardware must be compatible with and interface with other hardware in the assembly that is similar in design, configuration, and purpose to those previously made by this manufacturer. Additionally, the design and production rely upon proprietary processes in thermal impulse sealing and duration that were developed by ILC Dover and are necessary for this procurement.

The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.

Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified Chris Gaspard at cgaspard@nasa.gov not later than 2:00 p.m. local time on July 31, 2013. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
