NASA [Smd] ROSES-22 Amendment 21: NICER GO – Cycle 5 Revised Text and Phase-1 Due Date Delay
D.11 NICER General Observer (GO) – Cycle 5 solicits proposals for observations with The Neutron Star Interior Composition Explorer(NICER), an X-ray experiment on the International Space Station (ISS) dedicated to high-resolution timing and spectroscopy of neutron stars and other rapidly variable X-ray sources in the 0.2–12 keV band. All areas of astrophysics are solicited, with at least 7.5 Ms of available time and a limited amount of funding available in Cycle 5. Moreover, NICER Cycle 5 proposers may request up to 400 ks of time with NuSTAR, up to 200 ks with Swift, or up to 300 2-minute and 50 20-sec cadence windows for TESS.
ROSES-2022 Amendment 21 delays the Phase-1 due date and releases revised text and for NICER GO – Cycle 5. The due date for Phase-1 proposals (submitted by 4:30 p.m. Eastern time via ARK RPS) has been delayed to September 14, 2022. New text has been added to Sections 1.1, 1.3.3, and 2.3, regarding joint observing programs with NuSTAR, Swift and TESS. New text is in bold and deleted text is struck through.
On or about May 20 2022, this Amendment to the NASA Research Announcement “Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) 2022” (NNH22ZDA001N) will be posted on the NASA research opportunity homepage at http://solicitation.nasaprs.
