NASA ROSES-21 Amendment 56: New Opportunity in ROSES: A.51 Increasing Participation of Minority Serving Institutions in Earth Science Division Surface
NASA put out a Request for Information (RFI) in July, 2021 (Increasing Participation of Minority Serving Institutions in NASA Earth Science Surface-Based Measurement Networks, NNH21ZDA016L (see https://go.nasa.gov/3cCD9Xn) to gather input from the MSI community about its potential interest in participating in a potential program in which NASA would provide instruments for one of several NASA surface measurement networks and support those institutions to operate the instruments and use them for Earth Science research as well as incorporating them into the educational missions of those institutions. NASA received significant interest in that RFI (22 responses) and this ROSES element constitutes ESD’s response to the input received.
Surface-based measurement networks are an important component of the suite of observational capabilities employed by NASA’s Earth Science Division (ESD) because of their ability both to provide unique information about the properties of the Earth system and to provide calibration/validation information in support of the satellites flown by ESD and its domestic and international partners.
In addition to providing useful data, surface-based measurement networks also provide an opportunity to engage directly with those who are making the measurements and utilizing them for local, regional, and/or global studies. As part of NASA’s ongoing efforts to increase the diversity of its investigator community and to provide opportunities for those who have not traditionally been part of that community to become full participants in it, NASA is looking to enhance the participation of Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) in these networks.
ROSES-2021 Amendment 56 releases a new opportunity in ROSES: A.51 Increasing Participation of Minority Serving Institutions in Earth Science Division Surface-Based Measurement Networks (IPMSI). To be eligible to submit to this program element the proposing organization must be an MSI. Notices of Intent to propose are requested by February 9, 2022, and proposals are due March 16, 2022.
On or about December 15, 2021, this Amendment to the NASA Research Announcement “Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) 2021” (NNH21ZDA001N) will be posted on the NASA research opportunity homepage at https://solicitation.nasaprs.
