NASA ROSES-16 Amendment 14: A.31 AVIRIS NG India due date delayed
ROSES-16 Amendment 14: The due date for proposals to program element A.31 Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometer – Next Generation (AVIRIS – NG) Airborne Campaign in India is delayed until further notice.
As part of a broader cooperative effort in Earth science research and applications, NASA and the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) agreed to operate the NASA Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometer – Next Generation (AVIRIS – NG) instrument aboard the ISRO National Remote Sensing Centre King Air B-200 aircraft. AVIRIS-NG is a NASA airborne imaging spectrometer in which each ground pixel measures the complete surface-reflected solar spectrum over the 380 to 2500nm spectral range. This airborne campaign will generate data products relevant to Earth science research and applications activities in a number of topic areas by capturing spectra from terrestrial, freshwater, and marine sites throughout India. The products will provide ISRO with important baseline spectroscopy data for a wide variety of Indian environments and offer NASA researchers an opportunity to use an important new dataset. Both NASA and ISRO will have access to all scientific data coming from the AVIRIS-NG instrument. This campaign marks the first step in a potential multiyear effort between NASA and ISRO to advance imaging spectroscopy of the Earth.
In order to allow sufficient time for the distribution and subsequent processing of the AVIRIS-NG data, the proposal due date for this solicitation is delayed until further notice. Please monitor this site for updates. The final due date for proposals will be no less than 45 days after the announcement of the resumption of the program.
On or about May 27, 2016, this Amendment to the NASA Research Announcement “Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) 2016” (NNH16ZDA001N) will be posted on the NASA research opportunity homepage at http://nspires.nasaprs.com/ and will appear on the RSS feed at: http://nasascience.nasa.gov/researchers/sara/grant-solicitations/roses-2016.
