D.16 “Astrophysics Pioneers” program element of ROSES solicits proposals for Astrophysics space and sub-orbital science investigations that are greater in cost, scope and capability than normally possible within ROSES, e.g., the Astrophysics Research and Analysis (APRA) program (D.3 of ROSES-2020), but of lesser cost than the Astrophysics Explorers Mission of Opportunity (MO) program (e.g., PEA O of SALMON-3 for the 2019 opportunity). Investigations using platforms that include CubeSats (including constellations), SmallSats, Major Balloon Missions, and International Space Station (ISS)-attached payloads are solicited.

This is a friendly reminder that the deadline for MANDATORY Notices of Intent (NOI) for D.16 “Astrophysics Pioneers” program element of ROSES is August 13, 2020 11:59 PM Eastern Time.

Proposals will not be considered unless an associated NOI was submitted via NSPIRES by the NOI due date. Submission of an NOI does not require you to submit a proposal. The NOI to propose submitted to NSPIRES by the prospective PI is a brief summary of the planned work and includes a full listing of all funded Co-Is. Astrophysics Pioneers and NSPIRES do not require that a PI’s organization approve or submit the NOI.

Also, please note that the FAQ for D.16 Astrophysics Pioneers was updated on August 7 2020. We encourage you to read the updated FAQ document. Updates to the FAQ will cease on or before September 1, 2020, which is one month before the proposal submission deadline of October 1, 2020.

Questions concerning D.16 “Astrophysics Pioneers” should be directed to Michael Garcia at michael.r.garcia@nasa.gov.
