MAJOR PLANNED NOMAD OUTAGE – NOTIFICATION TO MSFC HOSTED USERS
The following Outreach was sent to NOMAD customers with accounts on the MSFC servers.
Time: 4:00 a.m. (Sat)- 11:00 p.m. (Sun) Eastern
3:00 a.m. (Sat)- 10:00 p.m. (Sun) Central
1:00 a.m. (Sat) – 08:00 p.m. (Sun) Pacific
Customers Affected: All NOMAD customers with a messaging service hosted on MSFC servers
Systems Affected: NOMAD Email Client, Instant Messaging (IM), Outlook Web Access (OWA), BlackBerry, Treo and Windows Mobile Devices.
Details: Many computer systems and networks will be unavailable for 43 hours due to a facilities maintenance outage necessary to support mission critical systems at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). This preventive maintenance activity is being performed to avoid placing NASA’s critical Space Operations Mission Directorate (SOMD) systems at an unacceptable risk.
The following services will not be available to you during the weekend outage (Dec 6-7):
Email, Calendaring, Instant Messaging (IM) and Webmail (Outlook Web Access – OWA) services. You will not be able to send or receive email messages using your email client on your desktop or laptop computer. Email messages sent during the time of the outage will be queued and delivered to your mailbox once the servers have been brought online.
BlackBerry, Treo, and Windows Mobile Devices email services. You will not be able to send or receive email messages using your BlackBerry, Treo or Windows Mobile device during this outage. Email messages sent during the time of the outage will be queued and delivered to your mobile device once the servers have been brought online.
The following services will be available to you during the weekend outage:
Telephone capability. You will be able to send and receive telephone calls and text messages. Internet browsing will be available using your BlackBerry, Treo, or Windows Mobile device. BlackBerry customers will be able to use pin to pin communications.

Customers Affected: All NOMAD customers with a messaging service hosted on MSFC servers

NOTE: In order to provide you with certain e-mail services during the weekend outage (Dec 6-7), your email account will be moved from MSFC to Johnson Space Center (JSC) earlier in the week. You will receive a separate outreach notice on Friday, November 28, requesting that you close your email client on the day of the move. The notice will contain specific information as to when your account will be moved, and the time of the move.
As a result of the move noted above, the following services will be available to you during the weekend outage (Dec 6-7):
