The green Nile River Valley and Delta stand out in stark contrast to the surrounding brown desert sands in this image, captured by the MODIS on the Aqua satellite on September 13, 2008.

Most of Egypt is desert and the country actually contains parts of the Sahara and Libyan deserts.

However most of its population lives along the Nile River, which is where all the agriculture is. East of Egypt, and across the Red Sea, is the Sinai Peninsula. North of Egypt is the Mediterranean Sea. Egypt is bordered by Sudan to the south and Libya to the west.
