Tropical Cyclone Kara is the third cyclone to hover off this region of the Australian coast this month. The cyclone, with its distinct eyewall, is shown in this image, captured at 06:05 UTC on March 26, 2007 by the MODIS on the Aqua satellite. The coastline of Australia is shown in black; much of it is under cloud cover, though some of the reddish color of the ground is visible.

The storm was likely a category 3 at the time this image was taken, and it is expected to get to a category 4 storm, though it is supposed to weaken before landfall. Kara follows the arrival of Cyclone Jacob on March 12 and the deadly George, which claimed three lives when winds of up to 275km/h slammed the region in the early hours of March 9, according to The Australian.
