NASA MODIS Image of the Day: June 21, 2007 - Fires in Tanzania
Numerous fires (marked with red dots) were burning across eastern Africa, in Tanzania.
This image was captured by the MODIS on the Terra satellite on June 5, 2007.
Though this image shows only a handful of dots, the number of fires will likely increase as the agricultural burning season gets underway. Fires are set to clear land and prepare it for planting and ranching. This image shows the region of Tanzania between Lake Rukwa (at right) and Lake Tanganyika (at left).
