Snow blankets the ground in the Plains States and in Canada in this image captured by the MODIS on the Terra satellite on January 24, 2008.
Canada is in the top tier of the image.
Below it is: (second tier) Montana and North Dakota; (third tier) Idaho, Wyoming and South Dakota; (fourth tier) Utah, Colorado, Nebraska, and Kanasas. The Rocky Mountain range is visible in Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana. The corner where Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana meet is home to National Parks including Yellowstone and Grand Tetons. Futher east, on the Wyoming/North Dakota border are the Black Hills.
