On January 29, 2007, a characteristic dual-plume dust storm blew out of the Bodele Depression in northern Africa. The MODIS on NASA’s Aqua satellite took this picture the same day. This image shows two pale beige dust plumes blowing out of the Bodele Depression (top right of the image) toward the southwest.

The dust partially blurs the satellite’s view of Lake Chad (located at the bottom center of the image), which spans the borders of Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon, and Chad. The country borders are shown in black.
