Tropical Cyclone Favio came ashore on the coast of Mozambique in the morning of February 22, 2007. At the time it crossed the shoreline, Favio had lost some strength from its peak the previous day but still had extremely powerful winds. This image was aquired on February 22, 2007, by the MODIS on the Terra satellite.

In this image, Favio is half over the ocean and half over Mozambique. The western fringe of the cyclone is over the countries of Zimbabwe (top) and South Africa (bottom). The black lines denote country borders and the few red dots represent fires that MODIS detected in the region.

Favio did lose some strength the next day, but brought heavy rains Zimbabwe, a region that has already had severe flooding along the Zambezi River.
