TO: All Engineering Technician (GS-802) Employees

FROM: 106/Director

SUBJECT: Revised Reduction in Force (RIF) for the Metallic Test Article and general and Precision Machining (MTAGPM) A-76 Competition
ACTION DUE: COB June 10, 2005)

1. During most Reductions in Force (RIFs), circumstances occur that require a re-running of the RIF, thereby changing the offers made to employees. An example of this is when employees leave and create additional vacancies for placement. The current RIF action to implement the MTAGPM A-76 competition needs to be re-run due to this type of circumstance. Also, there has been continuing discussion regarding both positions and qualifications since the RIF notices were issued. Accordingly, a review of competitive levels and qualifications will take place by the end of June 2005. New notices, if required, will be issued as appropriate after the re-run. If the re-run RIF affects and employee more severely, that employee will receive an additional 60 days notice before the effective date of the action.

2. AS part of this review, we have also decided to re-open a limited opportunity for Engineering Technicians (GS-802s only) to amend or file their resumes. Engineering Technicians, GS-802 grade 13 and below, may amend their existing resumes or submit a new resume with the Human Resource Management Branch, OHCM, by Friday, June 10, 2005, at 4:30 p.m. If an employee has already submitted a resume, any new information submitted during this process will supersede the existing information. Employees are reminded that resumes are presumed to be true and correct to the best of the employee’s knowledge and that falsification of resumes is a punishable offense. Information provided will be validated as necessary.

3. We appreciate your continued cooperation as we work these complex workforce actions. Questions about this process may be directed to the Human Resource Management Branch, OHCM at extension 4-2558.
