NASA JSC Update: Flash Flood Warnings Continue

The National Weather Service has extended the Flash Flood Warning that includes the JSC area until 11:15 PM. Rain has been falling at JSC at around 0.7 inches per hour for the past 3 hours. Total rainfall since midnight at B30 is now 7.54 inches. A band of heavier rain stretched from the south end of Bolivar peninsula to Bacliff. This band is producing 1.5 to 2.5 inches per hour which will pass a few miles south of JSC. JSC can expect another 1.5 to 2.0 inches of rain before the warning expires. There is some indication that the heaviest rainfall tonight may shift towards the coast. Nevertheless rains will continue most of the night with a possible break around 8 to 9 AM tomorrow.

Flooding of low lying areas and highways can be expected. Drive with caution. Any road closures may be found on this web site, http://traffic.houstontranstar.org/roadclosures/
