Description

NASA/JSC has a requirement for an RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) latest Generation 2 IC (Integrated Circuit) tag study. The goal of this study is to test the performance of the latest EPC (Electronic Product Code) Global RFID Generation 2 IC tags and readers for NASA use. The duration of this study is one year. The contractor shall supply the necessary hardware and perform the evaluation in the center’s Radio Frequency Supply Chain Logistics (RFSCL) Lab. This study seeks to develop, test, and evaluate the latest generation 2 passive IC RFID tags and readers. The final report will be utilized as a case study that shows the return on investment for utilizing this RFID technology(s). NASA/JSC intends to award this Purchase Order to VerdaSee Solutions, Inc. VerdaSee is the only RFID distributor currently working under contract with the DoD and civilian manufacturers to provide hardware and software for IMS (Inventory Management System) applications in similar challenging environments. Furthermore, VerdaSee is the only distributor that works in conjunction with the University of Nebraska that has collaborated with NASA JSC on similar studies. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:00 p.m. local time on the date listed above. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
