Description

NASA/JSC has a requirement for the procurement of MK-III Space Suit Hardware Replacement and Refurbishment. NASA/JSC intends to purchase the items from Air-Lock, Inc. The Mark III Space Suit Technology Demonstrator is a one-of-a-kind space suit prototype. This procurement purchases replacements for or refurbishes components that are showing wear and purchases consumable soft goods. Replacement items include a section of the composite space suit rear-entry hatch latching dogs and ankle bearings. The item to be refurbished is the bearing race and ball feed ports for the medium-profile waist bearing. Soft goods consumables include space suit glove wrist bearing separator seals, hip bearing lip seals, and O-rings. The components are all customized for the Mark III. Air-Lock, Inc. is the manufacturer of the MK-III prototype space suit’s hardware components and is the only vendor with the data and design rights. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 2:00 p.m. local time on August 24, 2007. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
