Description

NASA/JSC has a requirement for a quantity of three Lunar Electric Rover (LER) Generation II Air Conditioning units. NASA/JSC intends to purchase the items from Dometic Group because they are the only known company able to design a unit that meets the following requirements:

* 10,000 Btu/hr capacity

* Vibration tolerant

* Dust tolerant

* Maximum evaporator dimensions of 18 x 12 x 15 (all dimensions in inches)

* Maximum condenser dimensions of 24 x 13.5 x 20 (all dimensions in inches): Condenser package must include compressor and condenser and be able to remove 1 liter/hour condensate

* Controllable via Ethernet or RS232

* Power requirement not to exceed 1.5 kW for nominal operation: Power requirement of 1 kW, available power source is 300 VDC. Vendor must provide an inverter if A/C unit requires power conversion from DC to AC.

The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.

Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 2:30 p.m. local time on February 3, 2011. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.

All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.
