DAILY REPORT # 4135
PERIOD COVERED: UT June 14, 2006 (DOY 165)
OBSERVATIONS: None
FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY:
Significant Spacecraft Anomalies: (The following are preliminary reports of potential non-nominal performance that will be investigated.)
HSTARS:
10315 Battery Temp @165/1945z
Battery 4,5&6 temps trending upwards. Battery 5&6 temp(CBAT5TMP CBAT6TMP) exceeded upper yellow limit of 3.5 degC. Battery 5&6 toggled up to 4.09 degC.
COMPLETED OPS REQUEST:
17798-0 Recovery from ZGSP @165/1355z
COMPLETED OPS NOTES: (None)
SIGNIFICANT EVENTS:
HST Safemode Recovery Status:
HST successfully intercepted the science timeline (SMS SA166Q00_F1) beginning at 166/0146z. At 02:42z ACS completed its recovery from safe mode to operate. All Scientific Instruments are now in nominal configurations and executing on the science timeline.
Battery 1 Flash Report HST entered ZGSP, at 164/20:35.26 GMT, during the discharge portion of the Battery 1 Capacity Test. Entry into ZGSP autonomously disconnected the discharge resistor and terminated Battery 1’s discharge at 27.35 volts versus the nominal discharge termination voltage of 15.07 volts. The usable capacity is determined at 26.4 volts, therefore an official capacity value for Battery 1 was not obtained.
Contingency procedure ‘A’ was followed with Battery 1 placed back on-line in hardware at 164/2230 GMT. AT 164/2303 GMT, the Payload and the NICMON Safing Sequence Pointers were set to their nominal safing RTCSs and SMAC20 was patched back to its nominal version G. At this point, Battery 1 was back on-line in hardware.
At 165/1300, it was determined that Battery 1 had sufficiently recovered from its discharge to be placed back on-line in FSW. Commanding to place Battery 1 back on-line in FSW was completed at 165/1436 GMT. As part of the nominal script, the Six Battery Pressure Test was modified for a six-battery system at this time also. EPS is now in its pre-test configuration and continues to perform nominally.
