This is a modification to the synopsis entitled “DRAFT” ANNOUNCEMENT OF OPPORTUNITY: MARS SCOUT AND MISSION OF OPPORTUNITY which was posted on January 9, 2006.
To all Mars Scout Proposers – Thank you for your comments on the draft Mars Scout Announcement of Opportunity (AO) for 2006.
We anticipate that the final AO will be released in April 2006, and look forward to your proposals in response to the AO. While we prepare the final AO for release, we would like to bring one important correction to your attention.
The draft AO gave conflicting, inconsistent information about whether the cost cap was in Real Year or Fiscal Year dollars.
The cost cap and phasing was provided correctly in Appendix E in Real Year dollars, but was incorrectly stated elsewhere in the AO as Fiscal Year 2006 dollars. The correct cost cap for this Mars Scout AO is anticipated to be $475M in REAL YEAR (RY) dollars, and the desired phasing will be provided in Appendix E in REAL YEAR dollars. Likewise, the anticipated Mission of Opportunity cost cap ($35M) is in REAL YEAR dollars.
We will ensure the final AO is clear and consistent on this matter.
