NASA [Heomd] Announcement of Opportunity – Environmental Chemistry Lab Manager
The Biomedical Research and Environmental Sciences Division at the Johnson Space Center (JSC) seeks to fill an Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) position in the Environmental Sciences Branch. The Environmental Chemistry Lab Manager/Environmental SME position will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the lab and will provide expert technical advice/guidance on topics related to air quality, water quality, and environmental monitoring. This position will coordinate with other NASA SMEs in the fields of Microbiology, Toxicology, Space Medicine, and Engineering as well as other personnel supporting Crew Health and Performance.
The incumbent will be expected to evaluate and interpret environmental data to ensure compliance with established requirements and provide recommendations for the implementation of corrective actions when off-nominal situations occur. Incumbents will represent the division and branch at internal and external boards and will be expected to effectively communicate complex concepts to non-expert audiences. The incumbent will actively engage with the Environmental Control and Life Support System – Crew Health and Performance (ECLSS-CHP) Systems Capability Leadership Team (SCLT) and provide recommendations on strategic investments in technologies that will address environmental control and monitoring gaps for future crewed space flight missions.
