Description
National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) will have an industry day discussion to provide information to potential offerors on a planned request for proposals (RFP) to obtain NASA-wide software process improvement consultation support, software process training and Standard CMMI(R) Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPI) support. The background of NASA’s software process improvement program will be discussed as well as the current status of NASA’s centers. Currently, eight out of ten NASA Centers are using the CMMI model to improve their software processes.
Over the next 3 years, NASA plans to move to an Agency-wide enterprise approach associated with the software improvement initiative. This Agency-wide enterprise approach will be achieved by consolidating and standardizing a set of Agency-wide software processes and software design principles. These consolidated processes and design principles would be used by future NASA projects. A part of the RFP will include services needed to support NASA in implementing the Agency-wide CMMI approach and appraisals. Plans for this Agency-wide approach will be discussed, along with NASA’s needs for software process improvement support, software improvement consultation, software process training and software CMMI appraisals during this period.
NASA will provide the information as a briefing via a Web-ex and telecon session, with a questions and answer session following the briefing.
