There are approximately 4 weeks left in the response period for The Translational Research Institute for Space Health (TRISH) BRASH1901 solicitation. On December 17th, 2018 TRISH released a topic-driven call for proposals. The call is posted on NSPIRES (https://tinyurl.com/2019BRASH) and on the TRISH website (https://bcm.edu/spacehealth).

Funded by NASA through a cooperative agreement, TRISH engages and enables new health technologies to predict, protect and preserve astronaut health during deep space exploration missions. We seek high risk, high reward, high quality and efficient solutions that can be adapted (or translated) for use in space.

TRISH is seeking emerging scientific and biomedical advances, radically disruptive technologies, and new engineering capabilities.

Topics of interest in this call include:

  • Ophthalmic Imaging as a Means of Assessing Overall Health
  • Physical Health Surveillance of Astronauts on Deep Space Missions
  • Enriched Spaceflight Environments for Behavioral Health
  • Augmented Medical Knowledge and Guidance on Deep Space Missions
  • Personalized Detection of Space Radiation-Induced Biological Damage
  • “Just in Time” Medications

Awards are for a maximum of 2 years and up to $400,000 per year. All categories of U.S. institutions and companies are eligible to submit proposals in response to this solicitation. Only electronic submissions will be accepted. Every organization that intends to submit a proposal in response to this solicitation must be registered with NSPIRES, and such registration must identify the authorized organizational representative(s) who will submit electronic proposals. There are 2 steps to the TRISH application process. The deadline for the first phase of applications (Step-1) is February 14, 2019 at 5:00 PM ET. Successful Step-1 proposers will be invited on or about March 7, 2019 to complete a more detailed Step-2 proposal, due April 30, 2019 at 5:00 PM ET.
