Description

The WOSB Industry Day event, hosted by the Dryden Flight Research Center (DFRC) and The Space & Missile Systems Center (SMC) at the Los Angeles Air Force Base, is an opportunity for companies to meet with decision-makers regarding doing business with the agency. The targeted audience for this event are WOSB companies; however, all small businesses may register to attend.

The event will be held on Tuesday, 4 March 2014 at Gordon Conference Center, 330 Orbital Road, Building 270, Los Angeles Air Force Base located in El Segundo, CA. There is no registration fee for this event.

To register for the event go to: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/nasa-dfrc-and-air-force-smc-women-owned-small-business-industry-day-tickets-9768480789 .

Attendees will hear from SMC Commander, DFRC Senior Management, Small Business Program Managers/Specialists from NASA Headquarters and all centers, Small Business Technical Coordinators, the SMC Chief Scientist, prime contractor representatives, and others. One-on-one matchmaking appointments with NASA and SMC Small Business Specialists, other federal agencies, and prime contractors will be offered.

The vision of the NASA Small Business Program is to promote and integrate all small businesses into the competitive base of contractors that pioneer the future of space exploration, scientific discovery, and aeronautics research.

The Space & Missile Systems Center (SMC) is the birthplace of military space and center of military space acquisition excellence. Its mission is to deliver resilient and affordable space capabilities for the nation. SMC designs and acquires all Air Force and most DoD space systems. It oversees launches, completes on-orbit checkouts and then turns the system over to the user agency. SMC is a subordinate unit of the Air Force Space Command.

In support of small businesses, the White House has requested that all Federal agencies focus outreach efforts in small business socioeconomic categories where agency goal performance is low. To meet this request, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), as part of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2014-15 NASA Small Business Improvement Plan, instituted an initiative focused on increasing outreach in the following low performing socioeconomic areas: Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, Women-Owned, and Historically Underutilized Business Zones. SMC has undertaken a similar DoD initiative.
