Description

NASA Office of the Chief Technologist (OCT) has a requirement to develop technologies in support of space exploration. To this end, OCT has created the Game Changing Development (GCD) and Technology Demonstration Mission (TDM) programs within the Space Technology Program (STP). The GCD program focuses on maturation of key technologies across the mid-technology readiness levels (TRL), namely TRL 3-5, while the TDM program performs further maturation of these technologies to flight readiness status through relevant environment testing, including testing in space.

Development of Solar Array Systems (SAS) capable of eventually supporting Solar Electric Propulsion (SEP) applications at power levels of 250kW or greater will be developed as part of the GCD and TDM programs. The SAS development effort will occur in two phases. Phase I will advance the TRL to a minimum of 5 months and shall not exceed 18 months in duration.
