Description
NASA/KSC awarded a NASA Launch Services II (NLS II) contract to Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company. The NLS II contracts are multiple award, IDIQ contracts with an ordering period through June 2020. These contracts will provide a broad range of launch services for NASA planetary, earth-observing, exploration and scientific satellites. The NLS II contract procures domestic launch services with a minimum capability of delivering NASA satellites weighing 250 kilograms or more at an altitude of 200-kilometer circular orbit and a launch inclination of 28.5 degrees. The NLS II contract is an extension of the existing NLS contract and was awarded using the NLS on-ramp provision. The maximum ordering amount which can be ordered under all NLS/NLS II contracts is $15,000,000,000. The NLS II contract also contains an on-ramp provision that will provide the opportunity annually for new launch service providers to compete for future requirements, and existing launch service providers to introduce launch vehicles not initially available at the time of award of their NLS contracts. Once an IDIQ contract is awarded, the contract holder can compete for missions through the NLS II contract Launch Service Task Order (LSTO) procedures.
