Description
NASA/ARC has a requirement for one (1) Next Generation Portable Ultrasound Vivid q from GE Healthcare. NASA has six (6) Vivid q ultrasound machines already in use to support International Space Station (ISS) medical projects.
NASA/ARC intends to purchase the ultrasound equipment from GE Healthcare of Waukesha, WI. The required Vivid q ultrasound is only available from GE Healthcare and no other make or model will suffice. Prior to the 2011 purchase of the six (6) Vivid q ultrasound machines, NASA conducted extensive testing, research, and analysis. Much more research has been conducted following the purchase of the six (6) GE Ultrasound machines, and NASA is unable to provide resources to conduct repeat tests on different makes and models of ultrasound machines at this present time.
The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.
Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on July 27, 2012. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
