The requirement is to provide technical support to perform research, and development in the area of computer science technologies for NASA. It will consist of supporting the Exploration Technology Development Program’s research in particular areas that include autonomous systems (e.g., adaptive control, planning and scheduling, robotics, planetary visualization systems), decision support systems (e.g., mission operations), reliable software (e.g., program synthesis, and verification of the crew exploration vehicle control software), intelligent diagnostics and prognostics (e.g. modeling faults and failure modes and propagating them in time), data mining (e.g., identifying classes, and predicting recurring anomalies), and information management (e.g., collaborative and distributed knowledge management for NASA programs).

Additional required capabilities include:

  • the ability to sponsor H1-B research scientists
  • access to multiple universities and other research organizations for their skills and expertise in areas needed to support the Agency needs
  • support of the Intergovernmental Personnel Assignment (IPAs) program
  • mission operations support at different Centers including JSC, JPL and KSC for the Constellation program under the Exploration Systems Mission Directorate (ESMD)
  • knowledge of the Exploration Technology Development Program (ETDP) is required. Specific capabilities required include robust software engineering, requiring expertise in formal methods and algorithms to assess the accuracy of flight level code.

No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. If a solicitation is released it will be synopsized in FedBizOpps and on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service. It is the potential offeror’s responsibility to monitor these sites for the release of any solicitation or synopsis.
