Description

NASA/ARC has a requirement for educational outreach. NASA Ames Research Center (ARC) would like to inspire student interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) subjects, and to generate enthusiasm for space, particularly in underrepresented communities and in mostly poor rural communities.

The contractor must provide all of the following requirements:

– Support ARC’s Exploration Encounter with simulators and instructors for one day at ARC’s Exploration Center, in coordination with ARC personnel who would also share their knowledge and experience with visiting students;

– make available prominent spokespeople – speakers associated in some way with space and technology would be recognizable to parents and/or students – at three to four NASA-sponsored education events oriented toward minority and disadvantaged students, to communicate information about the space program and space education opportunities, and encourage students to study STEM subjects.

NASA/ARC intends to purchase the items from The Traveling Space Museum, Inc.

The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26.

Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to Rachel Jandron at Rachel.A.Jandron@nasa.gov not later than 12:00 p.m. local time on 7/23/2010. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.

Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.

All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.

An Ombudsman has been appointed. See NASA Specific Note “B”.
