NASA ARC Memo: Updated Ames Website
Subject: Updated Ames Website.
From: Centerwide Announcement
Date: December 6, 2012
TO: Resident Staff
FROM: Lewis Braxton, Deputy Center Director
SUBJECT: Updated Ames Website.
I am pleased to announce that Ames has made significant enhancements to its homepage – our new “front door” to the world: http://www.nasa.gov/ames . Please take a moment and step through.
There were several objectives for this effort: First, make it clear what Ames’ core strengths and contributions are to NASA and the Nation. You’ll see this under the heading “Areas of Ames Ingenuity.” Second, we wanted to show a clear linkage of Ames’ work to the NASA missions in the section “Ames Involvement in…” Ames does pioneering relevant work for all of NASA’s Mission Directorates and this is where you’ll learn about it. Third, we updated the summary of Ames under the heading “NASA in Silicon Valley.” We deliberately chose that heading to remind people that NASA has a presence in Silicon Valley and that presence is Ames. Fourth, the “slideshow”, the cycling images and captions, focuses on current missions and research. This will be changed periodically.
I invite you to not only surf around the new site but to also take this opportunity to really get to know more about your Center and the incredible work you and your colleagues do here.
I appreciate the efforts of the Web Council that worked diligently on this effort, especially our Research and Technology Directorates that provided the content and guidance on reflecting the strengths and priorities of the Center, and the Mission Support Directorates who were instrumental in turning the vision into reality. We will continue to work on the site to keep it current and relevant.
