Message From the Assistant Administrator for Human Capital Management
Participate in the 2008 Federal Human Capital Survey

Starting on Aug. 1, 2008, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) will once again administer the Federal Human Capital Survey to civil service employees randomly selected from federal agencies and sub-elements (which includes all our centers).

If you are selected, I urge you to take the time to respond to the survey questions. Here are a few reasons to do so:

– OPM developed this survey to help measure how well federal agencies are managing employees and the work environment to carry out their agencies’ missions. Again this year, NASA added a question to help us better relate the results to areas having particular importance in achieving our agency’s goals and programs.

– We are committed to continually improve the way we manage the agency, so it helps to hear from you. This survey is one method you can use to share your opinions in a voluntary and confidential manner. Let your voice be heard by completing this survey. When the survey results are provided to us by OPM, we will notify all NASA employees and post the results on the HCIE Workforce Services Portal at: https://hcie.nasa.gov

As an option, some centers are doing a 100 percent sample. For those NASA employees who are selected for this survey (about 10,500), OPM will send you an initial request on Aug. 1 followed by weekly reminder notices. These requests include a link to the survey along with your unique user code and password. This survey should take you no more than 30 minutes. If you receive a survey, please consider the above reasons to participate.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
