Message from the Center Director

Lew Braxton Named Ames Deputy Center Director

I am pleased to inform you that Lew Braxton has been confirmed as Ames Deputy Center Director effective October 12, 2008. Lew has been acting in the position since the end of July.

Mr. Lewis S. G. Braxton III holds a bachelor of science degree in accounting from California State University, Fresno, a degree in general management from the Harvard Graduate School of Business, and has been recognized by NASA for his management and service excellence. He also has a Meritorious Presidential Rank Award (2007). Mr. Braxton has served as the NASA Ames’ Chief Financial Officer and the Director for Center Operations. He has also qualified as a Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) through the Association of Government Accountants and maintains the certification. Awards Mr. Braxton has received include NASA’s Exceptional Service Award in 1998 and a NASA Group Achievement Award for his involvement with the Dryden Separation Team in 1996. In 1995, Mr. Braxton received the NASA CFO Award for development and presentation of the Agency’s Financial Management Crosscutting Report. He has been recognized in numerous group achievement awards and for his contributions to the Ames African-American Advisory Group.
