From: ARC-HR

Date: July 10, 2013

On Monday July 1, 2013 an email message was sent to all Civil Servants titled “Supreme Court Decision on the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and Federal Employee Benefits.” The email was intended to inform employees of the changes to Federal benefits in light of the recent Supreme Court decision. This privacy breach was limited to NASA Ames Research Center Civil Servants, no contactor employees received the message or attachment.

The Center Privacy Manager and the NASA Security Operations Center (SOC) promptly took action to remove the message and attachment from employee email accounts to the best extent possible. You are receiving this message because you were identified as an employee who may have already viewed the email and the message was not able to be retrieved. You may be notified by the Information Systems Directorate (Code I) or your organizational system administrator to manually delete the email from your computer, along with any related files containing the employee’s privacy information. If the message was forwarded on, please be sure notify the recipient to permanently delete the message for their email.

The employee was immediately notified of the incident and will be provided credit monitoring on behalf of the Center to ensure the privacy information disclosed is not used illegally or unlawfully.
