NASA ARC Internal Memo: Presidential Visit
Subject: Presidential Visit.
From: Centerwide Announcement
Date: Monday, September 26, 2011
Message from the Center Director – Presidential Visit.
For the past several days it has been our honor to host members of the White House staff supporting President Barack Obama’s two-day visit to Silicon Valley. The President arrived on-board Air Force One at Moffett Airfield, yesterday, September 25 and departed from the airfield this afternoon.
Due to the short notice of the President’s visit and his security protocol, at the request of the US Secret Service his arrival and departure were not advertised via centerwide and were not open to the Ames staff or the general public.
However, because I had the privilege of greeting the President, I took the opportunity to invite him for a longer visit and hope he will be able to spend more time at Ames whenever his busy schedule allows.
Many thanks to all who supported this very brief, unexpected visit and provided a safe and secure environment for the landing and departure. As usual, you served NASA Ames Research Center with integrity, professionalism and respect.
S. Pete Worden
Center Director
