Message from the Associate Director for Institutions and Research The New HSPD-12 Badges Are Starting to Arrive

Ames has started receiving and issuing the new NASA HSPD-12 compliant badges for civil servants who have completed enrollment, and non-civil servants who have completed the required background investigation and the enrollment steps. These badges are being delivered to Ames in batches.

When your badge arrives, the Personnel Security Office will call you to make an appointment to pick up the new badge. Please note that if you were contacted by the Personnel Security Office to provide background information via e-QIP or to enroll and you have not yet done so, you must do so now. You will not receive the new badge until the required steps are completed.

Issuance of the new badge takes about 15 minutes and will be performed in Building 566. You will need to enter a 6-8 digit PIN to obtain your badge; we highly recommend that you select your PIN prior to your appointment. You will also need to bring your existing badge to your appointment, since you must turn it in when you are issued your new NASA badge. We are trying to serve people as quickly and efficiently as possible, so please try to be on time for your appointment. Please do not visit Building 566 to pick up your new badge without an appointment, and do not attempt to make an appointment until you are contacted – your badge may not have yet arrived at Ames.
