SUBJECT: NCAD Migration of Ames Active Directory Accounts to an Agency Active Directory

WHAT IS IT?

The NASA Consolidated Active Directory (NCAD) Project will be migrating our Ames Active Directory accounts to a centralized Agency Active Directory domain. Once your Active Directory account has been migrated you will be able to:

– Access your SharePoint “MySite” from any Active Directory enabled computer in the Agency without first having to log-in to a Guest Account. Click here to learn more about SharePoint at: https://arc.nasa.gov/teams/aspug/default.aspx

– Log into any NASA application or resource that is integrated with the Agency Active Directory from any center to access the information you need

– Maintain the same log-in credentials even if you move or are on temporary assignment at another center

– Have fewer user names and passwords to remember, as more systems use the Agency Active Directory. Click here for a list of applications that are integrated with Agency Active Directory at: https://share.nasa.gov/it/arc/services/ad/Pages/integratedapps.aspx .

– In the future, log-in to a NASA computer system using your “Smart Card” badge and have a single sign-on environment. Migrating to the Agency Active Directory is an important component towards establishing that environment.

WHAT IS THE IMPACT?

For Windows Users, once your Active Directory User Id has been migrated you will need to log into your computer or any web services (Agency SharePoint, Email, etc.) using NDC\User Id instead of the current ARC\User Id.

For Mac users, once your computer system is connected to the NDC domain, your domain password will also be your system log-in password which will remove the need for you to remember separate passwords.

WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?

You will receive advanced notification via email by the Active Directory migration project team. The email notification will provide you with the specific dates and instructions for your migration.

Windows PC Users will be migrated: September 21, 2009 – October 30, 2009

Mac Users, Dual Platform Users (PC and MAC or other) and Server Resources will be migrated: November 2, 2009 – December 18, 2009
