Message from the Center Director Celebrate Ames’ 67th Anniversary on December 20

Ground was broken for the Ames Aeronautical Laboratory on December 20, 1939. Since that day, our personnel have undertaken groundbreaking work in flight research, life sciences, atmospheric re-entry, fluid dynamics, infrared astronomy, information technology, the exploration of Earth and space, and many other areas. Today Ames stands ready to play a leading role in Project Constellation, small satellites, entrepreneurial space, and science missions.

I am proud to serve as the director of this research center, which has played a pioneering role in advancing our nation’s science and technology objectives for 67 years. Please join me in celebrating our 67 years of history with a piece of cake at lunchtime in the Ames Cafe on Wednesday, December 20, courtesy of the Ames Exchange.
