SUBJECT: Yuri’s Night Information Session, February 5, 11 AM, Main Auditorium, (N-201)
Are you interested in sharing your exciting experiment, software, prototype, research or spacecraft at Yuri’s Night this year? Then you’re invited to join the organizers of this year’s Yuri’s Night Bay Area (YNBA) for an exhibitor interest and information meeting at 11 AM, Tuesday, February 5, 2008, in the Main Auditorium (N-201).
Last year’s YNBA was the largest of 126 parties in 35 countries with 4,000 attendees. The half-day event, synchronized to the anniversary of the first human spaceflight and the first space shuttle flight, brought scientists and engineers together with artists and musicians to celebrate space exploration.
Ames and the Space Generation Foundation are co-hosting this year’s YNBA, and we’re expecting about 8,000 people from that most elusive demographic – the 18 to 35 crowd. This year’s event theme is: “Radical Technology for a Sustainable Future.” The event will be from 2 PM to 2 AM, April 12, again in Hangar 211.
We’re looking for 30-plus cool, cutting-edge and exciting interactive demonstrations to showcase the exciting and important work we do for America. Last year, Ames’ exhibits included microbial mats, a large telescope, aircraft, Viewpoints, earthquake precursors, Gigapan and World Wind, and we’re looking for even more examples this year.
Please send an e-mail to yuris-night@nx.arc.nasa.gov for more information on exhibiting. When preparing your proposal, consider how you can actively engage our diverse group of Yuri’s Night celebrants. Interactive demonstrations, installations, and discussions work much better than one-sided lectures, poster displays or pamphlets.
